The 2003 Toyota Tacoma uses Dexron VI Transmission Fluid and it can hold approximately 4 quarts. Transmission fluid, similar to oil, is a lubricant and its purpose is to make sure that the various working parts of the transmission are not subject to damage from heat. The cost of getting the transmission fluid changed on Your Tacoma is between $80 and $100 for labor and $50 for parts. You should get Your transmission fluid changed every 20,000 to 30,000 miles or once every two to four years. The signs that You need a transmission fluid change include a grinding noise coming from the transmission, problems shifting gears, slippage during gear shifts, sudden unexplained surges, and a delay in movement after You place the vehicle in gear.

4x4 with auto trans drain and fill only takes 2.1 quarts. Complete drain takes 10.4 quarts.

First off who is saying if your looking for tranny fluid check out this engine oil? Hush.. And second holds 4 quarts? Then tell me why the service manual says 5.5 and why when i added 4 quarts to a transmission i just drained for filter replacement it only barely made the dipstick.. Another 1 and a half quarts will get it.. So its not 4, i dunno where anybody gets 4 at but nothing on the truck is 4 except tires or wheel drive..
