If You need to get access to the Toyota RAV4's oxygen sensor (bank 1 sensor 1), You'll need to look under the heat shield in order to gain any sort of meaningful access. There, You'll be able to find it high on the exhaust manifold / catalytic converter area of the exhaust, on the driver's side of the vehicle; then You should be able to access it with the appropriate sized open-ended wrench. If instead You find Yourself needing access to sensor 2, You'll still need to be under the vehicle, but this time moving to the passenger's side. You'll find that sensor under the black plastic trim piece that connects to Your bumper, and the sensor can be removed the same way.
