The 2005 Nissan Maxima uses regular, unleaded fuel to keep its engine running nicely. This fuel has an octane rating of 87 or higher. Despite this, Nissan still recommends using a more premium grade gasoline, with an octane rating of 91, or 97. While a lower rated fuel will not cause damage to Your engine, using a premium rated gas will be beneficial.
