The type of gasoline You will need to use in Your 2006 Volkswagen Passat will depend on which type of engine Your vehicle is equipped with. If You have a 2.0L 4Cylinder turbocharged engine You will need to use premium gasoline of at least 91 octane. If You instead have the larger 3.6L V6 engine You will be perfectly fine using regular gasoline with an octane of 87. This vehicle will have a fuel tank capacity of 18.5 US gallons. The 2.0L models will be more fuel efficient as they have an MPG rating of 22 city and 28 highway while the V6 models will get 19 MPG city and 24 highway.

The 2006 Volkswagen Passat uses premium fuel with an octane rating of 91 or higher is required in all 2.0T turbo engines leading up to 2015 (found in the GTI, GLI, Passat CC, Golf R and Tiguan models). Regular fuel, with an octane rating of 87, is recommended for all other VW models.
