The 2014 Chevy Silverado with the EcoTec or any engine that is listed as FlexFuel can use regular gasoline or E85. There is a sensor in the fuel system that will automatically change over the tune of the engine to match those gas choices. Do not ever put diesel into Your vehicle unless You have a diesel motor in a 2500 series or greater. Chevy says You can use an octane rating of 87 or higher, but in general I recommend getting the highest octane rating You can afFord. More octane will burn cleaner in Your engine and help prevent carbon buildups. There are also top tier fuels that have detergents in them that can clean sludge out of Your engine.

For all 2014 Silverado models except for those with the 6.2L V8 engine, Chevy recommends regular unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 87 or higher. For the bigger 6.2L V8, use premium unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 91 or higher.
