The 2005 Silverado houses a potent V6 or V8 engine, with the recommended motor oils including the sae 0w-20 and the sae 5w-30. It has a maximum oil capacity of 4.8 quarts. While semi-synthetic or engine oils can be used, Nissan recommends the use of 100% synthetic oils to boost efficiency, safety and longevity. For best results, Chevy recommends using either a sae 5w-30 genuine motor oil, or an equivalent oil from an api certified provider. This greatly increases the longevity, efficiency and performance of the car witH3,000 to 5,000 miles being the recommended period between oil changes.
