The best oil to use in the 2014 Chevrolet Malibu is ACDelco dexos1 Synthetic Blend. The recommended viscosity for the 2.0L L4 and 2.4L L4 engines is SAE 5W-30 and the 2.5L L4 engine is SAE 5W-20, but SAE 0W-20 can be used. Other oils can be used as long as they have the dexos1 approved certification mark and has the same viscosity rating. In colder climates, an oil with a viscosity of SAE 0W-30 can be used when the temperatures fall below -20° F., which will make it easier to start the engine. You should check the engine oil level often, once per week or every time You put gas in the tank. The Malibu has a engine oil life system which monitors a combination of factors to determine when an oil change is due. When indicator light illuminates, have Your oil changed within the neXT600 miles.

Chevy recommends Dexos SAE 5W-30 for the 2014 Malibu 2.0L and 2.4L engines. For the 2.5L engines, the 2014 Malibu should use Dexos SAE 5W-20. When the temperature reaches below 29°C/20°F, SAE 0W-30 may be used to provide easier cold starting. Dexos is sold under many brand names.
