The kind of oil the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee takes iS5w-20. Having high quality oil is important for the engine to run smoothly. You will run into problems with the oil at some point. Old or bad oil can cause the engine to stop working. Knocking noise may come about from the engine. You could experience terrible gas mileage. A common problem is an awful burning odor. This needs to be viewed closely as soon as possible or the car might explode. Your oil needs to be changed out someday. Every 5,000 to 10,000 miles or so is a good rule of thumb. If You don't replace it, there will be problems with the engine.

Jeep recommends using MOPAR SAE 5W-20 for both the 2014 3.6L and 5.7L Grand Cherokee models. When not available the 3.6L engine may take approved SAE 5W-30 oil. However, the 5.7L cannot use SAE 5W-30 motor oil.

The brand of oil doesn't matter so long as it's 5-20 or 5-30 if you have too. You can use a full synthetic brand for added protection. Vehicle makers will always recommend a brand type as per their contractual agreement with whatever company they use
