The standard 3.5-liter V6 engine in the 2014 Toyota Avalon takeS6.1 liters (6.45 quarts) of 0W-20 motor oil. The hybrid model getS4.4 liters (4.65 quarts) of fluid with the same viscosity. Toyota recommends replacing the oil in the 2014 Avalon every 5,000 miles or 6 months, whichever You arrive to first. However, if You live in a dusty area or Your daily commute consists of low-speed traffic, You may need it done more frequently. Your vehicle is equipped with an oil life light that lets You know when it's time to make a service appointment. It's a good idea to check the fluid routinely though rather than waiting for the light to come on. The average cost to replace the oil in this vehicle is $120 to $160, including labor.

Toyota recommends using SAE 0W-20 Toyota Genuine Motor Oil for the 2014 Avalon. This is a synthetic oil. Toyota also states that if 0W-20 is not available, 5W-20 may be used until the next oil change when 0W-20 is available.
