The timing cover may be leaking coolant in a 2006 Buick LaCrosse because of a bad coolant galley gasket. There are two coolant galleries behind the timing cover and a gasket is used to seal the coolant out. When this gasket fails, coolant can get behind the cover. Over time the timing cover gasket will fail and the coolant will leak out. It also could be because of a faulty water pump or gasket. The water pump is located on the same side of the engine as the timing cover. If the car overheats the gasket can fail causing coolant to leak out. If the water pump is replaced and coolant is still leaking, it is likely the timing cover gasket.

The timing cover for the 2006 buick lacrosse has a gasket that allows the cover to be tightly fixed to the engine block. Over time and due to exposure to sun, dust, road grime and more, the gasket may also become broken or worn out which will cause a leak.
