When the check engine light comes on in the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo it means the onboard diagnostic system has detected a problem with the engine. The problem with the engine can mean many different things including something minor, major or in the middle. You can see if it goes away by itself by just driving the vehicle for a while. If the light doesn't go away after a while You will need to find and fix the problem that is causing the light to come on. One of the main things that can be the cause is a loose or missing gas cap so make sure to check that. Other things that can be going on is a bad oxygen sensor or bad spark plugs.

If the check engine light on the 2011 jeep grand cherokee has come on it can mean many different things. It can be something minor like a loose gas cap or a reminder to get the vehicle serviced. It could also be a major issues like engine misfires, low oil pressure, ect. Generally if there is any problem on the car and the ecu detects it then the light will come on. When it does you can take it and have it scanned with an obd scanner and find out what the specific issue is.

Mine came on but after some searching, I found it was because my gas cap wasn’t clicked 3times when I got gas the last time. So I turned it a few times then the check engine light is off. Btw when light is on, it’s a fail safe so the remote start, traction control and a lot of other various things will quit working until the check engine light is off. Phew 😅. Thanks so much for whoever put that information out. I was so upset because I have only had my Jeep for a few weeks and also rushed into buying it, which I never do and there was no need to. I was considering selling it before that happened then thought I would never be able to without who knows what may have needed repairs
