The 2012 Ford Focus uses green coolant designed for American vehicles. This is what Your Ford will come with from the factory, and what a dealership will put in when they change it. If You have had it changed at a third party mechanic I recommend checking with them to make sure You know what is in it. Mixing different types of coolant can be dangerous since it can rust out Your cooling system lines. If You are not sure what type of coolant You have I recommend topping it off with distilled water until You are able to find out. You will lose come cooling capacity, but will not hurt anything in the engine doing it that way.

The Motorcraft chart shows the antifreeze is orange for 2012 and later. The 2004 through 2011 use yellow and green was never an option for a Focus.
