The 2008 Ford Escape v6 transmission fluid type is dexron ATF-4. To change the transmission fluid You will want to first make sure the car is level on the ground and then pop the hood open. Now locate the transmission fluid container, it should be on or near the transmission itself, and find the dipstick. Pull it out and wipe it clean, then put it back in and pull it back out. Note the amount of fluid it says is in there, and how much You need to put in to fill the container. Use a funnel and top of the container until it is full, or right at full. Being a smidge under is fine, but do not overfill. Now close up the container and You are good to go.
