There are 3 transmission choices. 5 speed manual and 2 automatics. Only the 4.2 and 4.6 had the manual option, the 5.4 never came with it. The two automatic transmission choices were the 4 speed 4r70w, or the heavy duty 4 speed 4r100. The 4r100 was only available behind the 5.4 where as the 4r70w was the base auto all across the board.

Is the automatic transmission in the v6 trucks the same as the one in the 4.6L trucks?
