The 2000 Jeep Cherokee has a fuel filter that can be found located in the fuel tank itself. It can be located fairly easily, and takes only a few minutes. Look to the top of the gas tank, at the beginning of the fuel line that traverses the engine and its parts. The filter or its housing will connect directly to the gas line, and feeds throughout the system. The cost to replace one of these filters can range from $8 to over $48. If You choose to have it replaced by a professional mechanic, You can expect to pay an additional $40 to $258 for labor. A new filter can be purchased from any automotive retail location, as well as from reputable online sellers.
Why Why Why is it in the fuel tank. I just filled up with gas. So now I guess I have to drop the tank. Great just Great. What a STUPID place to put it.

With all the space IN FRONT of the fuel tank, they put the filter INSIDE the tank? Dumb.

The fuel filter is located inside the fuel tank of your 2000 jeep cherokee.
Well I've owned 3 different Jeep's and my 1994 had a inline filter, easy fix. The other 2 I had to drop the gas tank with no way to extract the Gas I ended up with a Gas Bath. Easier to just buy a new tank and do it all at once. And the Rusted bolts will probably Snap. Jeep's R Rust Bucket's.
