The 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 came equipped with A4-speed automatic transmission and it will require the use of synthetic ATF+4 fluid. This transmission will have a fluid capacity of 5 US quarts. This is much less than similar trucks which means it is much more affordable when You need to have the fluids changed out and You should be changing out the transmission fluid every 60,000 miles. You will be looking at spending somewhere between $30 and $50 on fluid costs if You decide to do the job Yourself. If You want to take it in to a mechanic that cost will range between $150 and $190 including parts and labor.
