The 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 transmission temp sensor for an automatic transmission is located inside the transmission pan and on the Valve body assembly. This sensor will measure the temperature of the transmission oil. IT is used to inhibit overdrive and converter clutch operation when it is oil is cold.. It will be located internally and You will have to remove the transmission pan to gain access. Then You can locate the valve body assembly on the vehicle which is were the sensor will be. The repair is not too strenuous but does require some ability and experience with transmission components it should take about an hour. The cost for the replacement part will range from $20 - $30 depending on the brand and the quality of the part.
