The 2003 Dodge Dakota fuel tank size is specified by the manufacturer as 22 gallons and the recommended gas octane rating iS87 octanes unleaded fuel. The total miles per full tank of gas will range froM350 to 400 miles depending on how You drive. The specified MPG for the automobile is 17 MPG combined city and highway. The octane rating is critical and You should always follow the recommendation by the factory specs. Octane will be listed at the pump and the car is rated at 87 which is fine to put into the car. If You put bad quality fuel in the vehicle it could damage the fuel pump, injectors, or filter because of debris and particles in the gas.

The Dakota regular and extended cab had either a 20 or 22 gap tank depending on whether or not it had the ORVR evap control. Look for a large oval plastic container mounted to the frame directly in front of the tank. If that's present, it's a 20 gal. If not, it's a 22 gal.
