In order to gain access to the torque converter clutch solenoid on the 2003 Honda Civic, it's recommended that You first take the battery loose so that You can have better access. While it's technically possible to reach it without dismounting the battery, You'll find it much easy to maneuver if You have the added room of getting through without the battery in Your way. That's because the torque converter clutch solenoid is located directly on top of the automatic transmission case. It's a fairly expensive part for what it is (You'll be out at least $120), but it should be overall a fairly simple swap that most automotive enthusiasts can complete in a few hours, if not less.
