The 2003 Volkswagen Beetle takes a group size 48 battery. This battery is 12 1/16 inches long by 6 7/8 inches wide and 7 9/16 inches tall. The group size 48 battery has top mounted battery post in which the car's terminals connect to. You should expect the battery to last between three to five years before needing replaced. Lift the battery cover lid off and then unclip the distribution box on top of the secondary battery cover and set it to the side.
