The recommended oil type on the 2004 Acura MDX iS5W20 or 0W-20. Some of the products that You can also use are Mobil 1 Extended Performance Synthetic Motor Oil 0W-20 or Castrol Magnatec Synthetic Motor Oil 5W-20. If You want to know the capacity as well, it iS4.5 US quarts with a filter and 4.2 US quarts without a filter. The purpose of the oil in Your motor is to keep the engine in good condition and to protect its longevity. What it does is cleanses, conditions, decreases friction, and controls the temperature. If You want to keep it protected, respect its change intervals and top it off before it gets too low.
