The 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 has a 36mm front axle nut. This is a pretty common size for a truck and usually You will need either a 1/2' or 3/4" drive ratchet to be able to remove the nut from the vehicle. When You need to remove the axle nut I recommend that You use an impact driver because it can give You superior torque to remove the stuck nut. You will need to use a ratchet or torque wrench to reinstall it though. Using an impact driver to reinstall the nut could put too much torque on it and could strip out Your wheel hub assembly.

You can use either a 35mm, or 36mm. I would go with the 35mm. If nut is seized up, the 36mm will have more of a chance of stripping the head. So go with the 35 mm.
