On the 2004 Ford F-150'S4.6L engine, the coolant temperature sensor will be found on the rear of the engine. You'll find it near the serpentine belt, the AC clutch solenoid, and the intake manifold tuning valve, if that helps at all. It can be a pain to get to, and even more of a pain to remove; there's plenty of other things that get in Your way, and space is limited. If You need to replace it, You should know that this is a repair that has the potential for a lot of things to go wrong; as such, many drivers will opt to have this done by a professional. It's not a particularly pricey part, but the replacement is labor intensive; You also run the risk of damaging other engine components if You go it alone, so it may be worth the investment.
