The 2004 Honda CR-V thermostat is located on the upper radiator coolant line. The thermostat is a valve between the engine and radiator that helps to keep Your engine warm enough to run but not so warm that it damages the car. To keep Your car in optimal shape, Your thermostat opens and closes to keep Your engine between that ideal temperature range. But can You remove the thermostat and drive without one Well typically removing the thermostat will cause the engine to overheat at normal operating RPM. When the restriction is removed by removing the thermostat, at idle too much coolant will flow typically causing the engine to fail to reach it's designed operating temperature.

Everyone is saying that it's located on the upper radiator hose is obviously never looked at a CRV engine. They're located on the front of the engine on the lower radiator hose not on the top not on the upper radiator hose you'll be looking all day for it if you're following these guys advice
