The 2004 Jeep Liberty transmission control module can be found on the top of the transmission housing with wiring that goes to it. It is a small black box that has a wire harness if You are looking for it. Usually if Your transmission is having a hard time shifting between gears it is a problem with the transmission control module. It controls when Your vehicle needs to change gears to keep the engine and transmission speeds matched. Usually when the control module fails You will get a check engine light at Your dash because it will let the ECU know that there is a problem.

I have a 2004 Jeep liberty sports I need to change out the transmission control module. How easy is it to get a hold of that black box in take it out and change it out. Thank you
Which is it, inner right fender or on top of transmission housing ?

The Liberty tcm is located under the hood, on the right inner fender.
