Accessing the thermostat on a 2004 Lincoln Aviator'S4.6L engine variant can be a bit tricky, but it shouldn't be too difficult with a bit of direction. If You're trying to do a diagnosis or a replacement on Your own, just follow a few simple steps and You'll be at the thermostat in no time. You'll find the thermostat on the lower driver's side of the engine bay at the front of the engine. If You see the oil filter, You're nearby. You'll get the best route of access if You come up from under the vehicle. Also note that if You replace it, You'll need to follow a filling and bleeding procedure, since You'll loose some coolant and gain some air in the process.
