The 2005 Acura MDX HFL (Hands Free Link) module can be found in the center console and it is used to control the bluetooth and handsfree ability to use Your phone or other device int he car. The module will provide a lot of useful control for things such as the steering wheel control, cell phone functionality. You will have to remove the center console to gain access to the module. This HFL is important but it can cause some problems with Your car as it draws electricity from Your battery and can drain the battery if it is a faulty HFL and is not disconnected. If You are going to replace the HFL always make sure to disconnect the battery terminals to avoid being electricuted.

None of the above answers are correct. The HFL module for a 2005 MDX is located in the overhead console, not the center console.

The 2004 MDX HFL module is in the ceiling above the rear view mirror behind the dome light assy. Pop the dome light assembly out with a trim prybar or thin flathead screw driver and remove the 4 hex screws holding the cover where the Bluetooth HFL device is located.
