The owners manual for the 2005 Honda CR-V says that You should ideally use an API Premium grade 5W-20 detergent oil and the capacity, including the filter, for this vehicle iS4.4 quarts. The choice is Yours whether You want to use synthetic or conventional oil but synthetic is typically the better option. With an older vehicle model like this one it's likely that You've racked up a good amount of miles up to this point. If that's the case You may want to pick up a high mileage oil that's designed for vehicles that are at 75,000 miles or more. It helps to reduce engine sludge that has built up and it also reduces leaks from seals that have gotten loose over time. -
