The idle air control valve in the 2005 Subaru Forester sits on top of the throttle body between the air boxAnd distributor. All You will need to remove it is a flat blade screwdriver. Disconnect electrical connection on the right hand side, push the tab and pull it out of socket. Now take the screwdriver and rotate the screws counterclockwise to remove them there's one on either side of the valve. Once the valve is unfastened pull it towards the right to slide it out. Before installing the new one look inside the port where the valve goes just to make sure it's clean and if not just take a paper towel on the tip of Your finger and wipe it out.
