The 2006 Chevy Cobalt has a knock sensor that can be found in the engine bay. The first thing You will need to do is go to the front of Your vehicle, and using the safety prop arm found on the left (or passenger) side of the engine compartment, lock Your hood in an open and upright position. You will find the knock sensor mounted to the right side of the cylinder head or engine block. It could also be on top of the intake manifold. If the sensor has gone bad, it will need to be replaced. This can cost You between $22 and $58 for parts alone. If You decide to have it replaced by a mechanic, You are going to pay between $50 and $230 for labor.
