The 2006 Nissan Murano has a CVT fluid capacity of around 11 ½ quarts. When draining the transmission during a change You will only get around 5 quarts out of the transmission. There's an additional 6 1/2 quarts in the cooling system. The fluid has to be at a certain temperature range to get an accurate reading, this is why Nissan used a locking dipstick so that the cuss the owner would have to bring it in. A scan tool was needed to hook to the computer to see what the temperature of the CVD fluid is. When replacing the CVT fluid, in the Murano be sure to use only Genuine Nissan CVT Fluid NS-2, using none approved fluids can damage the transmission.
