If You want to know the coolant capacity on Your 2006 Nissan Xterra then look no further. The coolant capacity on Your vehicle is 2 3/4 gallons. The purpose of the coolant on Your vehicle is to prevent Your engine from overheating. It also protects the water pump, cylinders, pistons, and Your head gasket. It's important that You are checking every time You open the hood that You have enough coolant. The coolant level should always be between the MIN and MAX levels. To top off the coolant all You need to do is unscrew the cap and pour the coolant in. It is as easy as pie.

2 & 3/4 gallons or 11 quarts. If properly flushed there will be bubbles in the engine which when done properly after it fills all components of the engine it will take 11 quarts. I just did it and measured it out.
