The best oil to use in the 2006 Toyota Matrix is Toyota Genuine Motor Oil. The oil should be an ILSAC multigrade engine oil with a viscosity rating of SAE 5Wˆ’30. If that viscosity is not available You can use SAE 10Wˆ’30, but it should be replaced with SAE 5Wˆ’30 during the next oil change. The oil level needs to be checked regularly, each time You fuel up is recommended. Pull the dipstick from the tube and wipe it off with a clean cloth. Put it back into the tube and pull it back out once again. Keeping the tip held down, visually inspect to see where the oil level is on the dipstick. It should be between the MIN and MAX marks. If the fluid is below the MIN mark, add enough to bring it back into the recommended range.
