EacH2007 Lexus GS350 comes with the same 3.5L V6 engine, code 2GR-FSE. For the RWD variant, You'll require 6.7 quarts of SAE 5W-30 full synthetic motor oil. For the AWD variant, You'll require 6.8 quarts of the same. In the event that SAE 5W-30 is not available, it's permissible (but not advisable) to substitute SAE 5W-40 in the interim. The substitution is not recommended because of long term adverse affects on the engine. As weight goes up, so does viscosity (thickness) -- this introduces undue friction into the engine's operation. Over time, the added friction causes premature wear and tear, and eventually early engine failure. Therefore, You'll do more harm than good by opting for cheaper oil, so stick with the manufacturer's spec.
