With proper care and maintenance a 2008 Chevy Cobalt should be able to last at least 200,000 miles. The Cobalt has a very simple four cylinder engine in it, and that is a platform that is very easy and affordable to repair if anything goes wrong. Make sure that You change Your oil regularly and also do all of the other scheduled maintenance. These maintenance items are designed to prevent Your vehicle from breaking down. The manufacturer recommends getting them done so that You do not have any future problems with the car. When You defer maintenance then it is more likely that components will break. This can shorten the overall life expectancy of Your car.

I have a 2008 chevy cobalt and mine lasted 240,000 miles, I had to replace the hub bearings, but that’s it besides oil change. She’s now starting to show problems with the alternator which could definitely be due from time and mileage. Still love this car though.

My 2008 chevy cobalt has just broke 200,000. I've had to recently buy a new starter, battery, alternater. I know it's on the downside, but, spending $1000 on it the past few months is still cheaper than $500 a month on a new car. Gonna keep her as long as i can.

That question can only be answered if it was a one owner car and you serviced it properly and you've had no problems out of it the whole life of the car. All cars are different but the average life expectancy is between $200 and 300,000 miles. My 2008 Cobalt LT 2.2 has 240,000 mi on it and runs like a dream.

I bought a stick 2008 LS new. Just turned 270,000 and it still runs like new. Ordinary maintenance, mostly interstate driven, replaced alternator at 200k even though it didn't need it. Great car, great mpg, and will replace engine at 300k.

I have a 2008 cobalt Lt with 239000 miles on it and it runs pretty much perfectly except the tire monitor isn't working and it was having a fuse issue but other than that flawless

My chevy cobalt 2.4l Sport coupe is at about 213,000 miles and still runs great. Definitely still runs great. Having some electric issues from what im guessing is the voltage regulator thats in the alternator but aside from that and some regular changes with wear and tear like tires, oil change and some exhaust work its been running very great. For other people who have the 2.4l cobalt definitely run premium fuel in your car if you can afford it as thats what GM recommends. You CAN use regular unleaded fuel but you will notice a decrease in performance and will have some knocking in the engine from the spark plugs due to the compression ratio in the engine being higher. Definitely a pretty cheap to maintain and reliable car though.

My 2008 Chevy cobalt has 193000 miles, I recently gave a leaking water pump, the job is costing 1200, or so, I've had other maintenance on and off, not on a regular basis, this is the biggest job do u think it's worth replacing, they say the car is good otherwise, I do have a damp axle seal, along with oil pan and strut, can this model last if takin care of?

According to Yahoo list of vehicles reaching 200,000 miles: less than one percent of Chevy Cobalt last to 200,000 miles, 99% have died by then.
