The fuel filter on a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the 3.7L engine is located in the fuel tank on the fuel sending unit. This is all one large assembly in the gas tank that has the pump and filter all on it. The most common sign that there is a problem with the filter is a loss of oil pressure at the engine. This usually happens because the filter becomes clogged with debris and then less fuel is able to make it from the pump into the lines. When it is time to replace it You will just need to order a whole new sending unit and then You can replace it from the access panel on the top of the gas tank.
