The 2009 Hyundai Sonata has two different oxygen sensors. One is known as the upstream oxygen sensor, and the other is known as the downstream oxygen sensor. They each have distinct purposes, so You'll need to know which You're after before You start removing or replacing. The upstream O2 sensor is located on the exhaust manifold, which You'll be able to find by following Your exhaust pipe towards the front of the vehicle. The downstream sensor screws into the tailpipe, right after the catalytic converter. Removal or replacement will require jacking the vehicle up and putting it on jack stands, and quite a bit of force; since the exhaust can get quite hot, expect an '09's sensors to be heated and cooled into place quite well.
