The transmission fluid capacity of the 2010 Lincoln MKX is 9.4 quarts. The best fluid to use is Motorcraft Mercon LV automatic transmission fluid. An alternative fluid can be used as long as it meets Ford specification Mercon LV. You should check the transmission fluid level often, at least once a month. Proper fluid levels are critical to the performance of the transmission. When checking the transmission fluid, You want the fluid to be hot teller so check it after driving for about 20 miles or until it reaches the normal operating temperature. Park on a level surface and then set the parking brake. With Your foot on the brake pedal move the gear shift through all the gears, allowing it to run for 10 seconds between shifts. Finally put it in park and then pull the dipstick out and wipe it off and put it back in. Pull it back out again and make sure the fluid level is in the crosshatched area at the bottom of the dipstick.
