The 2010 Mazda CX-9 uses SAE 5W-30 motor oil and has a capacity of 5 US quarts. 5 quarts of oil is usually in the range of $15 to $25 depending on which brand You prefer to use. Although the CX-9 has an oil change indicator light and will come on when its time to change the oil, its recommended that You change the oil and filter every 7,500 miles - even if the light hasnt come on yet. If You take the car in to be serviced vs doing it Yourself, the cost will be somewhere in the range of $130 to $140 for both parts and labor. The bare MINImum You can and should do at home is check the levels once a month to make sure that they dont go above or fall below the MINImum and maximum lines on the dipstick.
