The location of the starter on the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee is near the bottom of the engine on the driver side and by the engine mount. The starter helps to crank the engine when You turn the key and to be able to start the vehicle. Without the starter You wouldn't be able to start the vehicle. The starter on the Grand Cherokee should last anywhere from 75,000 to 125,000 miles or so. To be able to get to the starter You need to disconnect the negative battery cable then remove the engine side driver mount and engine mount bracket. Then remove the positive battery cable wire harness connecter eyelet from the solenoid battery terminal stud. After that disconnect the solenoid wire from the starter motor, remove the two mounting bolts and then remove the starter.

The 2011 grand Cherokee with 3.6 engine in 4wd... You will need to remove the left side (driver) exhaust manifold to be able to remove the starter. The way its designed its either that or drop the CVs and differential. Its horrible
