The type of power steering fluid that is recommended for the 2012 Ford Expedition is MERCON V Automatic Transmission Fluid. To know how much fluid to put in the vehicle, there is a MINImum and a maximum line on the outside of the reservoir. Do not let it get below the MINImum or above the maximum line. Power steering fluid is hydraulic fluid that transmits power in the steering system and helps You to turn the vehicle more easily. The fluid won't last forever so You should change it every 2 years or every 75,000 miles, whichever comes first. When checking or adding fluid You should wipe off the cap so no dirt or anything gets mixed in with it.
