The 2013 Ford F-150 with the 5.0L engine uses 12 quarts of coolant in the vehicle. Ford recommends that You use the OE Motorcraft coolant in Your truck for the best cooling performance. If You have Your coolant changed by a dealership then they will always use this coolant in Your vehicle, but if it was changed by a third party shop then they may have used something else. It is a good idea to check with the shop to make sure You know the coolant type since You do not want to mix different coolants together. Mixing coolants can cause corrosion in Your cooling system and that should be avoided. I recommend if Your coolant is low and You do not know what type of coolant You have then You should add distilled water to the vehicle.
