The 2013 Kia Rio with a 1.6L 4Cylinder engine has an oil capacity of 3.5 quarts. The recommended viscosity that You use will depend a little bit on the type of climate You'll be using Your car in the most. 5W-20 is the best option if You live somewhere that has temperatures hitting 0 or below. If You're in an area of the country that's a bit warmer You can opt for the 10W-30 oil. Choosing the incorrect type of oil is probably okay in the short term but prolonged use can lead to engine problems after a while. The brand You decide on is up to You but try to choose something that is API certified. -

PLEASE READ THIS!!! I put 5 us quarts into my 2013 Kia Rio when changing the oil like the answer on this website said to do!!! It actually turned out to be WAY too much oil and I had to go through the process of getting under the car and taking the oil plug out and taking about a quart of the oil back out of the engine. You need only to put with a new filter between three and a half to close to almost 4 quarts of oil only. Again do not put five us quarts like the person stated elsewhere in this website or you could destroy your engine in the long run.
