The 2013 Mazda5 recommended oil type is SAE 0W-20 Mazda Genuine Oil if You wish to achieve maximum fuel economy. Honda only recommends Mazda Genuine Part and Castrol for Your maintenance service. You should check Your oil levels at least one a month to make sure the oil is good and within the desired range. Make sure Your car is on an even surface, warm the engine up to normal temperature, then turn it off and wait about 5 minutes. Open Your hood, pull out the oil dipstick, wipe it clean, re-insert it all the way, then pull it back out and check the oil level. Your desired range will fall between the Full and Low lines. If low, top it up, and it over, drain a little. You should also have Your oil and filter changed every 7,500 miles or so.
