You will come into issues with the battery during the life cycle of the vehicle. There can be a leak, causing the fluid to spill all over the place. The battery can just be completely drained. You will need to recharge or replace it at this point. The battery can drain quickly and will need to fixed. A cracked case could come about and will need to be replaced completely.
The above answer is misleading, the battery under the hood is the main battery, the auxiliary battery is located in the driver side dash access is from the side of the dash.

A battery is located under the hood of the 2013 mercedes e350, look for the large black box that has a red and black connector on the top.
The battery can be in one of three locations: to the left of the dash, under the steering wheel, or in the trunk.
