The 2013 VW CC with the 2.0T uses SAE 5W-40 motor oil in the engine. Volkswagen also recommends using fully synthetic motor oil for greater protection. Oil comes in two major varieties, synthetic and conventional. Conventional oil is made out of petroleum, and synthetic is engineered in a lab. Synthetic will usually give You better wear protection and also last longer. Synthetic oil should be able to go 7,500 miles between changes compared to conventional that needs to be changed every 3,500 to 5,000 miles. Make a habit of checking Your oil regularly to make sure that it is free from debris or signs of damage. Burning oil can make it thinner and provide less protection and lubrication.
