The 2015 VW Golf uses SAE 5W-30 oil in the motor. Volkswagen recommends that you use synthetic oil in your car whenever you need to change it. There are two types of oil that are commonly found on the market today, synthetic and conventional. Synthetic is newer and is engineered to give you greater wear protection and longer running life compared to petroleum based conventional. This means with synthetic you can usually go 7,500 miles between changes compared to the 3,500 to 5,000 miles with conventional. I recommend that you check the oil in your car at least once a month. During this check you will want to Make sure that it is full and free from any signs of debris.
