The D3 light on Your Honda CR-V is a lamp that will illuminate in the tachometer when You have selected D3 on the gear selector. This is a mode that will not use overdrive and can be more useful if You are driving in bad weather where You do not want to use a gear that will let You go faster and just want more torque to go to the ground. If the D3 light is flashing on Your car while You are driving at highway speeds then that can mean that there is a problem with the overdrive gear. You will want to use an OBD II scan tool and see if there are any codes, and get the vehicle inspected by a Honda mechanic.

I have a 2010 Honda CR-V and I live in Wisconsin with plenty of bad weather. The D-3 button is my miracle for the slippery snowy roads. If you have my weather and you aren't using your D-3, I'm Sorry for you. I do not go above 40 mph. Works amazingly going from a dead stop at a stop sign or stop light. Leave everyone spinning in the snow while you have no troubles. I came here to verify the newer CR-V still have it on the shifter before I buy a new one.
