The official cause of a Honda Accord P1009 code iS-Classed as "Variable Valve Timing Control Advance Malfunction." The error usually indicates that engine timing is off and causes could be numerous including d***y or compromised engine oil. The VVC controls the phase of the intake camshaft by monitoring oil pressures. The phase control in turn informs the Accord's ECM/PCM which directs the actual timing of the engine's camshaft, utilizing the camshaft sensor. When lubricant levels are low or d***y, the function of the VVC can become altered. Other causes include a faulty oil control solenoid, circuit or VVC actuator. Check lubricants and wiring harnesses to diagnose. The engine's mIS Firing will manifest as rough idle and decreased fuel economy.

Hello, I have the same issue. Solenoid changed, oil changed. We just changed the timing chain, it was stretched, and one teeth over, but the problem still exists. Any ideas?! Thanks!
