The size of the lug nut socket for the Mazda CX-9 depends on when it was made. Before 2018 Mazda used a 21-millimeter hex head size and have been using 17-millimeter since then. Each wheel has five lug nuts, when replacing them make sure the tapered end is facing the rim. This not only make sure that the wheel goes on centered but also prevents the tire from getting cracked. If You install them backwards there's a good chance that You could cause the rim to crack and overtime could cause the wheel to fall off while driving. Tighten them in a crisscross pattern, until they are properly torqued at 90 ft-lbs on the AWD models and 105 ft-lbs on the base model.
